I EMBEDDED PAPER SECURITY FEATURES
During the paper-making process a range of security features (overt and covert) are introduced such as threads, watermarks, fibers and other embedded features. These are complimented by applied security features, such as OVD’s or iridescent stripes. We have chosen to introduce a large amount of security features within the substrate in response to a growing body of evidence demonstrating higher rates of public recognition of paper-based features. By introducing high value security features at the paper-making stage, we also ensure the integrity of the feature supply chain and avoid application difficulties and potential waste in the printing works.
Overt features include:
- Watermarks (mould-made, multi-tone, cylinder, electrotype)
- Fibers & planchettes
- Security threads (windowed & fully embedded)
- Micro-optics (MOTION™)
- OVD stripes
- Iridescent and other silk-screen printed stripes
Covert features include:
- Fibers (fluorescent& bi-fluorescent)
- Taggants
- Machine-readable threads incorporating magnetics, luminescence and infrared
- A comprehensive range of Level 3 forensic features
