Central Bank of Aruba Launches New Series of Florin Banknotes with MOTION SURFACE®

The Central Bank of Aruba (CBA) has introduced a new series of florin banknotes, printed by Crane Currency. All five denominations have the most secure features available, including high-relief printing, watermarks and color-changing ink – and Aruba is the first country in the world using Crane Currency’s micro-optic security feature MOTION SURFACE® for a complete series of banknotes.

The new series was presented on May 17th and were issued on June 4. The presentation was held by the President of CBA, Mrs. Jeanette Semeleer, together with the Prime Minister Ms. Evelyn Wever-Croes and the Finance Minister Ms. Xiomara Ruis-Maduro.

The new Florin banknotes are a celebration to the life and beauty of Aruba and includes elements from the island’s rich culture, flora and fauna.

The launch was an important mile-stone after a six-year long project for CBA, starting with the initial design competition, banknote conceptualization, selection of security features to the final proof printing, approvals and production.

During this journey, CBA worked in close cooperation with several local artists, local and international experts from central banks and private sector consultants, including Crane Currency.

In addition to producing the banknotes, Crane Currency was also responsible for creating and producing many of the components of the extensive public awareness and education campaign. The program consisted of a series of teasers in social media, website and an inspirational movie in the same channels to raise public awareness about the new series.
