Ukraine Issues Updated 200 Hryvnia Banknote with RAPID®

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has updated its 200 hryvnia (UAH) note as part of an ongoing banknote optimization. The updated banknote is equipped with modern security features, including RAPID® micro-optic security feature from Crane Currency.

The 4 mm wide RAPID security thread is partially embedded into the paper and has three-dimensional effects, such as the denomination “200” and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia. When the banknote is tilted, the background pattern of the thread moves quickly in opposite directions.

The new 200 hryvnia banknote retains the main images of the former version of the same banknote, i.e. a portrait of Lesya Ukrainka on the front and on the reverse a rendering of the Lutsk Castle Tower.

The nominal range of the hryvnia has been reduced to six denominations: 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1 000 hryvnia. The updated 200 hryvnia banknote will circulate in parallel with the former version of the same banknote until the old note is withdrawn from circulation due to natural wear and tear.
