Six Commemorative Banknotes Issued in the Ukraine
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has issued a total of six commemorative banknotes during 2021 to celebrate the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. The commemorative notes correspond to the series in circulation with the front of the notes showing the Independence Day Emblem, i.e. the official logo of the anniversary commemoration.
The total volume of 30,000 banknotes for each denomination are available for the public on-line or via commercial banks.
Four of the anniversary notes – the 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 hryvnia (UAH) – are equipped with RAPID®, the micro-optic security feature from Crane Currency. The RAPID security thread is partially embedded into the paper and has three-dimensional effects. When the banknote is tilted, the background pattern of the thread moves quickly in opposite directions.
The 100, 200 and 500 hryvnia banknotes have a 4 mm RAPID thread and the 1,000 note 6 mm RAPID thread.
